Government HST measure
Enhanced HST rebate on new homes
The “high $500’s” starting price for towns is shown after the enhanced HST rebate. Ontario’s 2026 Budget proposed a temporary enhancement of the provincial HST New Housing Rebate, up to $80,000, for qualifying new homes bought under an agreement signed between April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027. It must be the buyer’s primary residence or a qualifying rental. As of this page’s publication it has not been enacted into law and needs federal legislation.
